Have You Swapped To Long Lasting Bulbs Yet?

So you have bought your new ceiling light and had it properly fitted. It’s now time to sit back and enjoy the view.

But hang on – which type of light bulb did you pop in there? Was it a standard one, or did you buy an energy efficient bulb?

If you did buy a standard bulb you might have found it difficult to find one in the first place. This is because they are becoming less and less easy to find in the shops. Those energy saving light bulbs may have been hard to find and expensive to buy when they first came out, but now they have truly taken off and you can find them everywhere.

The great thing is that you can still enjoy your new ceiling lights without worrying about whether the bulb you put in there is good enough. Long lasting bulbs are wonderful because they do the same job as the old ones used to – they just do it for longer.

But you want to make sure you have the best effect for the ceiling light you have purchased. The first step to doing this is to ensure you read all the instructions that came with your ceiling light. You may find that it tells you which bulb you need to buy. Alternatively it may give you more than one choice, which is great if you are looking for a certain degree of light for your purposes.

Some areas of the home will require stronger light than others. For example the kitchen needs better light than the living room typically will. And when it comes to the bedroom you may wish your ceiling light to be even less pronounced. It all depends on what other lighting you have in the room in question. Consider all the options before buying a light bulb at all if you can. Energy saving light bulbs can last for a long time – so if you buy one you want to know that you have made the right choice.

You also need to be sure that the bulb you select is suitable in design for your ceiling light. If you use uplighters then you won’t be able to see the bulb at all. But if the design means the light bulb hangs down and is visible underneath the shade, be sure that you don’t buy a huge bulb to fit in it.

This is less likely to happen now anyway, since the newer designs of light bulbs are far better than the first few that hit the market. But it is worth bearing in mind, as you want your new ceiling light to be the main attraction – not the light bulb you are using inside it!

As you can see, the perfect combination of ceiling fixture and light bulb will give you the best result possible. And since long lasting bulbs offer a cheaper running cost as well, there is no reason not to go out and buy this type of bulb right now.
