It sounds more like something you might find in your bathroom. But a flush ceiling light might be just what you need to add that special finishing touch to another room in your home.
So what is this kind of light and why would you consider buying one?
A flush fitting ceiling light is basically a light that is fitted very close to the ceiling. This is why the word ‘flush’ is used – it fits flush to the ceiling itself, meaning that it is practically on the same level.
There are many benefits to having this kind of light fitting in your home, and if you happen to live somewhere that has low ceilings you will certainly want to find out more about them.
Many ceiling lights hang down from the ceiling to some extent. For example there may be the cord that connects to the light, and then you have the light fitting itself. This is all well and good if you happen to have a high or regular height ceiling, because it will still be out of your way. But if you have a low ceiling you may find that some lights are simply too low because you will knock your head on them.
In this case you will want to think about getting a flush ceiling light. A flush light may still be a few centimetres away from the ceiling but it won’t be far away. On many occasions they will be round or square in nature, but while the shapes may be limited the styles certainly won’t be.
Some of them are very simple and minimalist in design. For example you may have a square design that has a metal rim and a small metal centre, and then the space in between is frosted so that the light shines through it.
Mostly you will find the main part of the flush light fitting is frosted glass or a similar material. This gives a nice effect once the light is turned on, as you won’t be able to see the light bulb. And since many modern flush light fittings are energy saving in nature you will also be able to save money when you use them.
Finally you will find that the surround on some of the flush light fittings comes in different colours. For example you can get metal or silver finished surrounds, while brass and even white coloured items are available too.
